Call for Proposals

MPL Association Events: Annual Conference, Workshops, Forums, and Webinars

There are many reasons to become involved in MPL Association education programs.

Why you or your organization should consider submitting a proposal:

  • Demonstrate thought leadership: Gain recognition by sharing your experience and expertise in front of the medical professional liability community.
  • Advance medical professional liability: From engaging attendees with your experience to empowering others with techniques, tools, or solutions that have helped your organization, your participation will enhance the community’s knowledge, skills, and competencies.
  • Build community: Sharing your work is a great way to make connections and find partners within the MPL community.

In-Person Education:

Forum and Workshop Sessions (30-45 minutes): Showcase high-impact approaches or changes in processes that led to improved outcomes. Sessions highlight lessons learned, challenges overcome, and practical strategies that can be adapted. (Claims Defense Forum, Claims Risk Management/Patient Safety Workshop, Dental Forum, Finance Forum, HR Forum, IT Forum, Leadership Forum, Marketing Forum, Underwriting Workshop).

Conference Concurrent Sessions (60 minutes): Highlight critical problems facing the industry or promising new approaches or techniques. Sessions may be led by a single presenter or feature a panel discussion or debate. (MPL Association Annual Conference).

Learning Labs (60 minutes): Take a deep dive into a topic and strategies in these hands-on, interactive sessions designed to strengthen competencies. Focusing on engagement and discussions, these sessions encourage active participation and practical application, helping attendees leave with actionable insights. (Claims Defense Forum, Claims Risk Management/Patient Safety Workshop, Dental Forum, Finance Forum, HR Forum, IT Forum, Leadership Forum, Marketing Forum, Underwriting Workshop).

Virtual Education:

Webinars (60 minutes): MPL Association webinars explore a variety of topics. These sessions led by speakers from within the MPL community are offered live up to six times a year. Free for members and partners to attend, they are recorded and available for on-demand access.

Download the proposal form above to review all the questions asked and prepare your proposal for submission. This is especially helpful for presentations involving more than one person. Once completed, send the form to Meetings@MPLassociation.org.

How are Proposals Selected?

The proposal selection process is highly competitive. The MPL Association selects only a limited number of proposals for in-person or virtual education. Planning Committees and staff evaluate proposals based on the following criteria:

  1. Relevance to the MPL Community and/or subsections of the community
  2. Qualifications of presenters and panelists
  3. Extent to which a proposal is designed to engage members and the audience
  4. Extent to which a proposal focuses not only on the “what” of an issue but the “how” of implementing change.

Submitters are encouraged to develop proposals that include diverse presenters and leverage a range of expertise. When possible, priority consideration for speaking opportunities is given to our members and Partners.

Proposer and Presenter Responsibilities

Proposers of an accepted session for an in-person live event are required to register all individuals presenting. The cost associated with attending the conference, including registration, travel, lodging and meals are the responsibility of the proposers. Presenters are not provided with honoraria. For special circumstances, the MPL Association may, at its sole discretion, waive or reduce registration fees for a presenter if the cost of attending creates a hardship.

If a proposal is accepted, MPL Association staff may edit session titles and descriptions. Proposers and presenters will also work with MPL Association staff before the session to refine the content and ensure success. Prior to an in-person session or webinar, presenters are expected to provide presentation materials.

When are Proposals Due?

The MPL Association accepts proposals on a rolling basis, however, most planning committees begin the process of planning sessions 10-12 months before the next event. See the MPL Association calendar of events for event details. Webinar proposals may be submitted at any time.
