Emergency Nurses Association Honored with 2022 MPL Association Humanitarian Award of Excellence

(Rockville, MD, May 10, 2022)—In recognition of the extraordinary work and sacrifice throughout the U.S. and the world during the past two years, the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) has been awarded the Medical Professional Liability (MPL) Association 2022 Humanitarian Award of Excellence. This award is presented to individuals or organizations that have undertaken outstanding efforts to meet the needs of affected people during times of crisis or to affect long-term change to improve the human condition.

One of the premier professional nursing associations, ENA is dedicated to defining the future of emergency nursing. The organization’s mission is to advance excellence in emergency nursing.

“Emergency nurses consistently demonstrate an incredible commitment to their patients,” said Dr. James Q. Swift, chair of the MPL Association Board of Directors and director and chair of OMSNIC. “This award honors them for their selfless service every day but particularly during the pandemic.”

"ENA is honored to receive the MPL Association's Award of Excellence in Humanitarian Service,” said ENA President Jennifer Schmitz, MSN. “This award is dedicated to the countless emergency nurses—amazing people, amazing professionals—who never bowed to this pandemic and remain driven by their passionate commitment to patient care. Let this award recognize their sacrifices, resiliency, and countless contributions on healthcare's front line."

“The Association is pleased to honor emergency nurses and their significant humanitarian work,” MPL Association President and CEO Brian Atchinson stated. “They are inspiring and vital members of the healthcare team.”
