(Rockville, MD, May 19, 2023)—The Medical Professional Liability (MPL) Association presented a $5,000 grant to the Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine (SIDM) at its 2023 MPL Association Conference on May 18 in New Orleans. The grant was awarded by the MPL Association Education and Research Foundation to assist SIDM in its work to improve patient safety. The MPL Association is the leading international organization representing the medical professional liability insurance community.
SIDM catalyzes and leads change to improve diagnosis and eliminate harm from diagnostic error. “On behalf of the Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the MPL Association Education and Research Foundation for this generous grant to assist in our work to improve patient safety,” said SIDM Board President Dr. Doug Salvador. “This support helps us further pursue our mission of reducing diagnostic errors and improving the accuracy and timeliness of diagnoses for patients. MPL’s commitment to advancing healthcare through education and research is commendable. With this grant, we will continue to drive progress in the field of diagnosis to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients, families, and communities.”
“We are pleased to present SIDM with this grant to support its mission, which benefits everyone involved in healthcare. We commend the work the organization does in creating solutions that enhance diagnostic safety and quality, reduce harm, and ultimately, ensure better health outcomes,” said MPL Association Education and Research Foundation Chair James Q.
